Drinking Culture

Thais enjoy drinking socially, often sharing large bottles of beer poured over ice. Alcohol sales are restricted 11:00-14:00 and 17:00-midnight. Buddhist holidays are "dry days" with no alcohol sales. The Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan is world-famous.

DUI Penalties

BAC 0.05%+: fine up to 20,000 THB and/or imprisonment up to 1 year. Causing injury while DUI: up to 3 years. Causing death: up to 10 years. License revoked for at least 6 months.
